An iconic part of New Zealand rugby is the haka.

The haka is a traditional Maoria dance w/ variations used to mark different occasions. It’s most often remembered as a war dance.

Our rugby team, the All Blacks, perform a haka before every test match.

The AB’s have a very nice description and history of the haka here.

James Joyce saw the haka performed in Paris in 1925 and wrote a modified version for Finnegans Wake.
