So I started seeing Christmas decorations when I arrived in Aotearoa back in September. Seemed a bit early to me, but I just assumed that a few people never took them down from last year.

Well, now the X-mas adverts are in full swing. Decorations up everywhere, TV littered w/ ridiculous ads. Oh, and let me tell you how strange it is that the holiday season coincides w/ beach season here – very.

So while you all back in the States are roasting chestnuts on an open fire and drinking eggnog and mulled wine, I’ll be selecting my next swimsuit and gearing up for beach barbecues. Cheers!

Side note: Very few people here don’t celebrate Christmas. If you say “Happy Holidays” to someone, they will be very, very confused.
